As an expert company in the field of energy, Tempel Group will collaborate with the project that aims to promote the recovery and transformation of shipping containers into sustainable housing and various equipment using sustainability criteria.
The construction sector is undergoing a process of paradigm shift following the emergence of new technologies and collaborative ways of working. The way of designing and constructing buildings is changing rapidly and companies are finding themselves faced with a lack of qualified workers' profiles to correctly perform the new necessary tasks generated by the change in the sector.
The project has a clear ecological tendency due to its orientation towards the social and solidarity economy by encouraging the recycling of maritime containers. In addition, the different buildings already designed, including a toy library, a co-working centre, a children's facility, a hostel and a car park for electric vehicles, have followed bioclimatic architecture criteria and respond to current energy efficiency demands.
Blue Containers Project also helps to solve some of the problems related to the construction sector such as the high percentage of CO2 emissions and waste it generates, the high number of people who do not have adequate housing or the high rates of unemployment and the consequent greater difficulty of access to housing. Similarly, there is a problem directly related to maritime containers to which Blue Containers Project provides a solution and that is to eradicate their abandonment, as it is estimated that there are millions of them abandoned in the world due to the cost of sending them back to the port of departure.
The project is also supported by the Departament d'Educació de la Generalitat de Catalunya and the Ajuntament de l'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
